hey guys I was just wondering for those of you who know, to apply to can help those my co-signer have to be an American(or reside in us) or not. I am a Canadian student and my co-signer is Canadian too. so do u guys think that it is okay?🙁

do u guys know of any other place I can ake loan from. I again want to attend BU, so I assume I have to get loan from more than one place. I have a Canadian Cosigner. Do u g uys think that I will get bank loans easy here from Canada. For those of u who know, can I get osap too or not.

Whoa behand...calm down there...I dont know why you are so pumped about BU, when you obviously have not researched how you will fund this thinking that money grows on trees and is easy to get, because although BU is a great school, thats the biggest obstacle you are going to face. Try your best to get into your Canadian schools first, before you start signing your soul to the devil.

I used OSAP - around 7000 per year
RBC student line of credit - up to 100,000

This will not be enough - you will either need help from Canhelp or parents or whatever.

What is the interest like for a Royal Bank loan?? I tried getting an identical loan from Cibc, but didn't qualify because I was going to the US.

I borrowed the maximum from CanHelp which was my only option at the time. But I am thinking of possibly looking into other funding for my next 3 years to lessen my Canhelp amount. I also have parental funding which has helped a lot.

Did you already have an existing account with Royal Bank? What were the restrictions or requirements???

Just went to Royal Bank to get a Credit Line. Right now for professional students the limit is set at $125,000 Cdn (but this amount would change/decrease depending if you have other loans in place - i.e: OSAP; the limit is determined by $125,000 less other loans). The interest is set at Prime rate + 1%.

$120k is pretty low. it's not even enough to cover the tuition at some Canadian schools.

Yes, it is stupid (sucks to be a Canadian student going to study in U.S. - not even the Government of Canada will help us, well at the most $7000). I guess it is inevitable that we have to go back to the thread's origin - CanHelp!😕

well...the mainstream health system is underfunded the way it is so i doubt dental education is on the top of the gov agenda. but the lack of gov intervention is also what makes dentistry great in canada because of the autonomy and the ability to charge fees deemed appropriate by the practitioners rather than following a government payment system as in medicine.

i think most canadian schools however realize the tuition fees are a concern as dental students across canada were just recently asked to fill out a survey regarding the impact of tuition and how it might influence our career decision/satisfation, etc.
