  1. Pre-Dental
I'm a senior in undergrad about to graduate.
I have an oGPA of 3.4 and a DAT score AA 24.
Shadowing hours 400+ with two different dentists and pretty solid LORs.
However I took Organic Chemistry I five times...
The first time I dropped it (W) for literally no reason.
The second time I took it in the summer while working and could not do it.
The third time I ended up failing and fourth got a (D) because i got lazy ):
The fifth time I got an (A). I took oChem II once and made an (A).
Do admissions look at the amount of courses I retook?
How do my chances look? Should I look into some Post-Bacc progtams or no?

I don't think you should look into postbacs... honestly 5 times is surprising and you'll definitely have to explain it. But your other stats are good, I don't know if you'll get in but I think it's worth applying and seeing what feedback you get. You can even call some admissions boards and see if they accept 5 retakes for a class if that'll ease your mind!

What is your science gpa?

I believe around 3.15 :/

If i were you id apply if i felt comfortable going to a private school and paying that amount of tuition. If not, try to raise gpa then reapply.

Basically, your best chance of getting in is applying to a bunch of private schools broadly. Your stats are competitive for only those schools iml

Although 3.1 is below average you should be OK. You have an excellent DAT score, EC/Volunteer service. Make sure to have a good explanation of why you had to repeat that particular class 5 times in case it is brought up during an interview.

Doing a post-bachelor's will not change the fact that you had to take organic chemistry I five times, although it will increase your low science GPA assuming you perform well.

If I were you, I'd apply to the few schools which you are most likely to get into (such as your state school).

RT. Don't put yourself through a post-bacc.

In your shoes, I'd apply. Lean on your DAT to prove you know stuff. I'm sure they will look at your GPA and possibly have concerns, but your DAT proves most of their concerns wrong.

Your best bet would be your state school. 10-12 schools should give you good chances as long as you apply broadly. There is a chance that you will not get accepted this cycle or may be wait-listed. As long as you make good use of your gap year(s) and possible take some more classes, get a job and volunteer/shadow, you should be a competant applicant.

Right now I would rate your chances at 55-60%

Good luck! 🙂
