Hi, everyone:

I'm freaking out a little after realizing that I am grossly under-prepared for the August MCAT on which my re-application is based. (I'm currently WL at 2 schools, with low MCATs (26R) that have to be re-taken, I'm told, in order to re-apply).

I sent in my AMCAS last Friday, and they are in the process of checking it -- one of my transcripts is still outstanding but should be in shortly.

I just don't want to apply at all if I'm not going to take the August MCAT. I hope to decide for sure in a week or two at the most.

Will AMCAS pull my app. to them? Even if it's transmitted to schools, will they consider it an "application" if I don't do a secondary??

Thanks for any info guys!

I have heard of cases where people get off waitlists and then ask to have their AMCAS refunded and rescinded, and occasionally, this has happened for them. Other than that, I don't think there's a case where you can get your app revoked in terms of money, but if you don't complete the secondaries for schools, you will not be considered an applicant anyway...

Just go balls to the wall on the MCAT, take it and see what happens. Your AMCAS is already submitted, so give it a go.

AMCAS will consider you as a reapplicant if you decided to apply again another year, I'm pretty sure. (I didn't turn in some secondaries the first time I applied, but when I reapplied, my AMCAS app showed that I had applied to the schools before.) I'm not sure if each of the schools will count you as a reapplicant if you don't submit the secondaries, so you might want to check with a few of them.

Best thing you can do now is to look forward- decide whether or not to take the MCAT and put all your energy into the decision. Best of luck to you :luck:

Don't be dumb. Apply to DO schools so that you don't have to go through this madness of getting in somewhere. 😛
