Can I push back Step 2?

Hi all. I'm an MS4 at a mid-tier MD school in the midwest. I went into this year thinking EM but although I performed really well in my EM clerkship, I didn't love it and so have decided to apply in IM. For EM, I'd always heard you needed to have a Step 2 score on your application when it went out. I've heard differing things about IM in this regard. So I'm wondering if I can push step 2 back a bit (step one was 255) and get a little extra time to prep for step 2, planning to release the score quickly if the gamble pays off. Thoughts?
