I go to a crappy university--Bradley--and really did not exert even 10% effort in studying and managed to pull Bs in Gen. Chem. and other other freshman year classes, but I am not taking Biology this semester, instead I took an introductory Biology class that covered research approach and basic ecology. Anyway, my mom is a successful doctor and my dad is a banker, but even then, I feel so inadequate at times because even though I understand every hard topic, I lose focus too quickly. My parents are investing a lot in me: they are paying for rent, tuition, tablets, laptop, internet, food, etc.; yet I am still such a f*** up that I almost made a C in my Chem 110 class because I just lost focus and played games 24/7--and skipped classes. After reading a critical thinking textbook--Thinking Critically 10e--for four days during my winter break, I have come to realize that I really want to be productive in my life and impact others through what I always dreamed of doing but later deemed as impractical: research part-time and work as a physician part-time. But now I have 2 As and 3 Bs in my first semester, but I am willing to go into beast mode to study for MCAT and maintain all As from now on. My professor also gave me animal physiology research for next semester, so that should also help my application. I will also be taking General Physics over the summer because I did really well on my AP Physics B exam, and I believe I only need a Physics review; and summer is sufficient time for that. I will also be volunteering at a nearby hospital over the summer. My biggest perceived weakness in MCAT is the verbal reasoning portion, and to cover that I am reading and reflecting on a Critical Thinking textbook and I am doing two MCAT passages and their problems daily--and reflecting on why I keep getting most of the problems wrong. So if I manage to get all As, with the occasional B+, from now on till my MCAT application submission, do I have a decent chance of getting into any medical school? Thank you for your advice and your time!!

You've only completed 12.5% of your undergraduate transcript. You have plenty of time and opportunities for improvement (although starting with 2 As and 3 Bs is already a 3.4 and isn't a horrible starting position). No need to despair so soon 👍

10% effort and still got B? Bro if you give 50% effort you'll go straight to the top.

Why do I have 0% chance? And thanks everyone. This is reaffirmation is all I needed!!

Sarcasm. Its barely your first semester and you have 2 As and 3 Bs thats hardly anything to worry over.
