Can I wear tux pants(has a stripe down side) to interview?

that's all i have, but i dont' want to look overly formal or stand out in a bad way.

Whoa I have a passion for men's fashion (no rhyme intended), so I can say for purely sartorial purposes that is a no-no. (Although seeing as you asked, you are probably already aware of this.)

But I'm also practical. If this were just a one time event and buying pants were a waste of money, I'd say whatever just do it. But this will be a professional school interview, in which you will become a professional. This is a good opportunity to invest in some professional clothing for your wardrobe. I'm sure a nice pair of black dress pants or slacks will be very useful for the long run. A good first impression goes a long way! Good luck! Let me know if you have anymore questions. 🙂

I think it would be just fine. If you're concerned, you could just buy a pair of slacks at a discount store for $12.00 or so.

I know a couple guys who've gotten their suits (sold as seperates) from walmart, and they look just as nice as the more expensitve suits.

I agree with the Walmart idea. Or Kohl's or something. You're going to need dress clothes for clinic at some point in your optometry school career, you may as well go ahead and buy a pair of black pants. There are lots of places you can go to save some money! 🙂

I bought some nice slacks for my bro for about $15 about a week ago. It's even more FTW if you can get them on clearance!
