One of my science professors just agreed to write me a recommendation. I'm submitting my AADSAS in about a week, when I feel that everything is ready. My professor and I met up and talked, and decided that it would be best to delay the LOR for a bit so that we can meet up over the next couple weeks, reading some papers and stuff, and basically just getting to know each other, so he can write a better recommendation than just "he got a ___ in my class."

I'm not taking the DAT until July, and I know that that's ok. Is it also ok for me to not have one of my recommendations until around then? or is it best to send it in around the same time as the AADSAS? Aren't LORs just required by specific schools anyway, and they won't even be looking at my application until about August?

Thanks!

You will have no problem sending your LOR later this summer. I sent a few last year with AADSAS and then a few more later and it was no big deal. The fact that you are applying early is the main thing. Getting your app in early is a big advantage. Just be sure to follow up on your prof and also with AADSAS to make sure they received it and sent it to the schools you requested. I did this but some schools never received theirs until I pestered AADSAS to send them again. GOOD LUCK

You should get your application in when you are ready and the LOR can be sent later (just make sure he has and LOR matching form). The later you send the application in, the longer the delay in processing your application as more applicants will submit their's in. So just send it in now so it will quickly get processed (quickly = 1 month) and get your DAT and the LOR later when you receive it.
