Hello,

I've been looking around for the answers but can't seem to find them. The question is: Can a Physician practice Dentistry and set up his own dental practice?

Is there any restrictions to a physicians license?

No, they cannot. A physician can practice "podiatry" and "optometry" so long as they don't call it as such, but physicians have not training in dentistry except perhaps head and neck surgeons and plastic surgeons, to a tiny extent.

Generally, if a physician touches teeth and something bad happens, they'll have a hard time explaining what the hell they were doing in court.

What this guy said. No you won't get a dental license, have the appropriate background, nor will you stand a chance in court if something bad happens.

I spent time in medical school and am in dental now. We barely even made mention of teeth in medical school.

"The extent of our knowledge about teeth is that an adult is supposed to have 32 of them unless, of course, some are taken out."
