I found a link posted in a different thread in 2012 regarding the gpa calculation from the AAMC. According to my calculations i get a low science gpa around 3.0 and it seems like if i need to reach a target of at least 3.3 i would need more than 60 credits of straight As.
I just want to make sure that i am not making a mistake on the calculation and i would really appreciate if someone could please take a look at my spreadsheet. I have entered all the courses correctly with the correct grade and credits but i want to make sure the credits required to reach the target are correctly shown. My first transcript for the first two years gpa was 2.66. And the last two years i had a 3.55. Even though there is a strong uptrend when combined my gpa drops to a 3.0
I was planning to do an SMP to fix my gpa but it seems like i will need more than 60 credits if i only receive As to reach a 3.3 which will still be low for the MD admission.
I would appreciate if someone could take a look since this will make me decide to look for an alternative career and give up on the MD.
I also included a couple of (ESL) English as second language courses since they were on my transcript and also entered my Physics II class twice since i got a D the first time and an A the second, and i left out one class that i got a P for pass/fail.
I have already applied to MAMS at BU and MBS at tufts and got rejections due to my low Mcat, took it for the first time in September and got a 484.
At this point it seems like it will not be worth for me to try because it will take me over two years to get my gpa competitive, even if i retake the Mcat and get a good score i will still not get accepted due to my gpa?
Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated.
