I want to make my application as competitive as possible in order to give increase my chances of being accepted into a dental school the first time I apply.

I have decided to either go into a post-bacc program or perhaps, going into grad school. Preferably, I would rather just take post-bacc programs to create a new GPA that dental schools can look at. My GPA is not competitive enough without a high DAT score but I do not want to commit and rely only on a DAT score. I think a new GPA would be the best decision. Is it a slower process, but better overall.

Can you guys give me some information on post-bacc programs?
I was reading Yah-E on the under 3.0 club and he said there was a 2 year program where you take medical/dental courses and if you do well within a year or so, that is good enough to impress dental schools and have dental schools overlook undergrad GPA's.

Once I graduate undergrad with a BS in Biology, I am unsure what to do.

Please give me any advice or explain the steps you took after you graduated undergrad before you applied to dental school. Also, please describe any grade requirements for these programs after graduating undergrad. I understand most pre-dents with low GPAs have been going into post-bacc programs, are there any GPA minimums and other requirements to get into these programs?

Thank you

sam WY, theres also a masters in oral biology at NYU that lets you take more than half the credits at the NYUCD itself. you might want to check that out since you happen to be from NY

heres the link to it NYUCD masters in biology/oral biology

I am not trying to be lazy about anything. But to be efficient in time and preparation, what programs do not require GRE or do not require high GPAs?

I remember reading there is a program in Boston where you can just take the same classes as D1 students...

There's just so much out there, I'm not really sure what I'm looking for.

These links have been very helpful. Keep 'em coming, I doubt I'm the only one who needs info like this on this board!

sorry i'm not too familiar w/ post-baccs, but at my school, we had a few re-apps who went that route and were succesful- actually i met one person who did a masters in speech pathology and credited that degree with getting her into a specialty program.

Are there any of these MS programs in California?
