Can someone please help me identify a pathology slide here?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
For case 2 signet ring carcinoma vs. gastric xanthoma: Cytokeratin immunostain would discriminate these two entities.

Or perhaps granular cell tumor? S100 positive in that lesion, negative in foamy macrophages/xanthoma cells. CD68 would show the reverse pattern. But this does not look like a tumor.

I think the stain is Mucicarmine for case 2 what do you guys think?

You can rule out signet ring adenoCA just by looking at it. Those aren't signet rings. Those are foam cells mostly with central round nuclei.

Thanks Doc!

Thanks Doc!
it's a xanthoma. most are accociated with gastric hyperplastic polyps. muci stain or cytoker stain will do it bit it is not necessary. the other is reactive gastropathy assoc with oral fe (iron pill gastritis/gastropathy ) it is a prussian blue stain.

you have no shame or academic integrity, do you?

You dont have to give me an answer if you think its out of lower integrity, im just asking because this is not my specialty nor something i want to specialize in and yes i have no shame in asking specialists in something that i do not understand. Sorry you have to be so bitter you must not like teaching others your knowledge. Gdluck

So, you're asking us to help you cheat? According to the "rules" section of this website, you're getting extra credit points for using these answers for a class you're taking (see numbers 10 and 11 via the following link):

http://www.patomorfologia.lublin.pl/images/doc_spring_2011/rules_u_bis_10_11.pdf

Doing this out of an effort to learn is one thing, but doing it just to get extra credit in something that "is not my specialty nor something i want to specialize in" is just cheating. I wonder how the coordinator would feel about it......

Thanks to everyone for there suggestions much appreciated.

in conclusion i went with this answer gastroesophageal junction mucicarmine stain and for gross tongues.

Yeah thanks for your observation and i see you have plenty of time outside your residency to actually check the rules and regulations. Fyi its not cheating all im doing is asking for suggestions theres no rules stating i cannot. This was a really tricky slide and its always good to get different views.

How about "lack of"? And I did teach residents for 2 years and it was like teaching pigs to sing----it wasted my time and annoyed the pig.
