I have Cingular. Can I just get another SIM card and stick it in another cell phone so that two phones can share the same number? Thanks!

You should be able to just "clone" the sim and it should work. Unless they lock the sim/your account to a particular handset, but even in that case, you can probably have them just add the serial ID for the 2nd phone to your account.

As far as I am aware, they don't care how many phones you have with the same number, they all pull from the same account.

I know it works the other way around when you "splice" two sims into one phone and you can have two numbers, or even two providers, for one phone.

How do I go about doing that? Should I just go to Cingular and ask them?

you would need to contact Cingular for this kind of "cloning"... but from what i've heard, the us carriers really don't do that. (and this isn't a diy job, and not even if you go to a professional.) it can't hurt to ask, though.

Ya, I figured they wouldn't be too excited about it. I emailed them about getting another SIM card, so we'll see what they say.

Nah, go to somewhere like chinatown and have them do it. All the providers will do it in the UK for something like 5 GBPs...
