This going to get long, so please bear with me.

I had a question regarding TX schools including TCOM and how much information they see from AACOMAS cycles. Being that TMDSAS has its own system, and TCOM is a part of that, would adcoms be able to see/verify past cycle acceptances?

I ask this because I was recently accepted to UIW San Antonio, as well as the UNT SMP. While I have heard good things about UIW, the price tag is killer and even harder for a TX resident to stomach. It’s also a relatively new program, which is concerning to me for further medical education. All in all, I feel that I made a mistake by not withdrawing my application and waiting for the next cycle.

If I were to go the SMP route, I would reapply in the upcoming cycle. I would reapply to all TMDSAS schools, including TCOM. The TMDSAS application specifically asks if you have ever been accepted to a medical school, and as I understand it, having declined an acceptance puts a huge red flag on your application....but as UIW is an AACOMAS school, would TCOM and other TMDSAS schools be able to actually see the acceptance? Or do they simply rely on an honor code on the application? Obviously they are two different application services, but do all Texas schools communicate regardless?

Any and all advice would be appreciated. Thank you!

So you are asking in a roundabout way if its okay to be both unethical and, with Texas law, commit perjury by knowingly and intentionally lying on a medical school application? And you want to do this with TMDSAS which does the majority of due diligence for candidates of Texas schools backed up the Texas Education Commission, which has its own law enforcement arm? Tell you what, you go right ahead. I mean, what are the chances someone here will send the above post to both the director of TMDSAS and UNTHSC SMP director?

If caught: you can get booted. If it comes up after you've earned the degree, it might even be rescinded. If you would like to be an idiot and turn down an acceptance, shooting yourself in the foot, at least be an honorable idiot. Do you want to shoot your foot off in hopes of Blade Runner'ing your way to victory? Good luck, you'll need it after you've exercised such abominably poor judgment.
