I applied to a lot of neuro programs. good app with clnical neuro and research experience, good LOR -- but poor step 1 on 2nd try.

ABout half I have heard nothing positive or negative from, including the very top-teir

I have about 7 interviews scheduled with prgrams probably ranked from 25 best to maybe 50-60th. Those dates seem to be the prime dates thur/fri in dec and jan

Will programs schedule more interviews with less "prime dates" soon? Or schould I assume the rest fo my replies are "No Thanks"

What about prelims? I prbably havent heard back form 70% of them.

Your best bet would be to assume the worst (as in you will not receive any additional invitations). That is the most likely scenario, but you may get an additional invite or two. This becomes more likely when you factor in that the programs you are still waiting to hear from are on the more competitive end of the spectrum. You can probably apply the same assumptions with Prelims.

Well I am suprised. I got a mayo- minnesota interview.

so they are still trickling out.

yeah, well i just go an interview about 3 days ago and they had a bunch of dates to offer(meaning that maybe it wasnt because i was put on a waiting list).... but in my opinion and what ive heard from residents ... that they apply to some and then towards jan start canceling so programs start contacting other people....

so in my opinion here is what u do.... places u like send them an email or call them...let them know u are interested, in the case of a friend of mine remind them about some of the highlights of ur application (if u call) like maybe ur step 1 sucked but u did very good in ur third year clerkship... from what i have heard from my friend(he is doing this for surgery) they say stuff like "oh u sound nice ill put u up for an interview" or "those are very impressive"...and others might say" haha u rnt getting an interview"...if they say that dont feel bad it's bound to happen but u might as well also get interviews this way

good luck...
