If you are interested in 2 subspecialities within your field, can you do a fellowship in each, or are you only limited to one fellowship after residency?

Thank You.

Yes, you can do more than one fellowship if you desire. Many CT fellows are having a difficult time finding a job right now so they are doing additional fellowships not only in Peds CT, transplant, etc but also in areas like trauma and peripheral vascular. Now I would think it would be pointless to do two fellowships in fields that are not all to related, like Plastics and CT for example.

Well thats just ****ing great. 4 years of college, 4 years of med school, 5+ years of residency/fellowship, just to find out that you cant find a job and have to get even MORE training?

Who the hell would sign up for that? Hell general practioners and FPs can at least find a job somewhere.

Some programs offer combined fellowships, such as pediatric cardiology/critical care.

Yeah it sucks especially if you were one of those that came out of the womb wanting to do CT and just now starting your general surgery residency this July. Here is an article posted yesterday on ctsnet:

Thank you guys for your replies.

Unfortunately, I am one of those guys who REALLY loves CT Surgery. 🙁

Thats is why I am still undecided, and reluctant to go into General Surgery. I really do not care much for GI sx, Oncology, Vascular....
