So, I found out you cannot get accepted before Oct 15th, due to AAMC rules, but what about rejected? Does anyone know the answer to this for sure?

probably, people have been getting pre and post-secondary rejections already.

Ohhhh yes. I have gotten two rejections already. It also looks like Hopkins sent out a set of rejections today as well.

I think the OP was refering to post-interview rejections? But even so, schools can give post-interview rejections before oct 15...vcu comes to mind in particular that has already given out rejections to people who have interviewed

wow thats intense

im sure i will have a few post interview rejections but i think it makes more sense for the school to just keep holding applicants on for the longest time possible and just weeding them out

There is no reason NOT to reject before October 15 if the schools can. It's not like we're competing to stay out of medical school <.<

Are post-interview rejections really common though? I suppose it depends on the school, but don't most non-accepted applicants just get stuck on the waitlist at that point?

I know Pitt does post-interview rejections, but I'm pretty sure Vandy doesn't (for a couple examples).

Yeah, I think it's not that common before 10/15. I think they will wait at least until 10/15. After, I'm not sure.

well think about if they do too many post-int rejections, then if you don't get a rejection by 10/15 then it means you are good

i guess it depends on the school, but i'd say overall post-interview rejections are very common. you're looking at anywhere from a 1 in 2 to a 1 in 5 chance of acceptance post-interview, and i don't think the remaining non-acceptees are all placed on waitlists at most schools.

there's def post interview rejections. they just dont usually send decisions out til oct 15th.

there's gonna be bias in reporting decisions on sdn (esp on school specific threads, ppl will just dissapear) but there's def tons of rejections instead of waitlists

again its school dependent

just expect to be rejected by some, waitlisted by some and hopefully be accepted by one or more

Triple Negative! It took me a while to understand that haha. But I agree, Compass is right.

Post-interview rejections must be especially cruel.
