Can you make changes to AMCAS for new schools added?

I'm hoping to submit my AMCAS application today in order to ensure it's processed by July 1 but there's one activity (future physician shadowing) that I'm not sure the exact number of hours I'll be doing- all I was told is 2-3 days. If I submit my application today to just one school (with an estimate of the amount of hours), can I change this information to be more accurate for later schools I add? What happens if I overestimate/understimate the amount of hours I'll be shadowing?

You might just state at the end of the Shadowing space that you are "scheduled to start x to yy more shadowing hours on x/xx/xxxx with . . . " and leave it vague.

No you cannot change it. at the most you will have 15 hours so just run with it

Thank you for your advice. I have one last question. I'm kind of panicking right now because I haven't sent in any applications or transcript yet and the website to submit transcripts from my university is down until this Monday. Am I going to make it in so that they can be processed by July 1 if I send these things out on Monday or am I late already? Am I at a disadvantage if my applications are processed a little later than July 1?

Calm down! It’s a long process and you are going to be exhausted by July. Send the transcripts. You’ll be fine even if you aren’t verified by July 1. They won’t even look at your application until they have your transcripts. Are your letters all set to go? You’re going to be just fine time wise so take a deep breath. Good luck!

I appreciate the reassurance. Aren't all the pre-med gunners who got their application/transcript sent out already going to have their's reviewed before mine though? My school prepared a composite letter with my letters but they haven't uploaded it yet (and told us to expect them by late June/early July). I'll be sure to send my transcripts as soon as the site reopens on Monday. Thanks for the positive thoughts!

Others might be reviewed before you but it doesn’t really matter. If you have a good app you will have good results. “Be early” should be interpreted more as “don’t be late”. You will be plenty early if you submit anytime in June.

It’s also a mistake to think that simple chronological order dictates how schools review apps. Schools each have their own process and prioritize apps differently.
