Hi I am completing some information for the 2009 application (even though i do not plan to attend medical school in 2009 since it is too late). I am, however, planning on attending medical school in 2010, however applications are not openned yet for this, can i still fill out some information for 2009, hoping that it will be transferred to 2010 application once it is openned?

Nope. While it might be good practice to fill out the app now, all the info will disappear when the new app rolls around.

One thing you can work on is your Personal Statement. Just don't fill it into an online form.

I'm 100% sure about this, too.

The 2009 applicaiton does not "end", exactly.

The 2010 application will probably become available sometime in mid-May.
Then, you can submit it sometime in early-June

As a reapplicant, AMCAS had saved almost all my data from 2008, so when I filled out my 2009 it was almost all proofreading as opposed to filling things out.

However, even if you could do that at this point, I don't recommend it. This caused me to make multiple (minor) errors because of dates and other things that had changed since last time. Start thinking of a PS and getting your letters in order, those are the big time wasters come app time.

I think your info was saved because you submitted AMCAS last year. I Filled out 2008 last year (did not submit) and none of it transferred onto the 2009 AMCAS. As a result, I had to transfer all the info manually and made several mistakes in the process.

Unless you actually submit the application and it's verified, the information is NOT saved.
