Can you submit new letter of recs while you are waiting for an II?

I completed all my secondaries in July. Was wondering if I should send schools a new and recent LOR that could strengthen my app. It is a strong letter and I think it could help. Is this something that applicants can do?

2) Of course, you are now telling the school, to reopen your closed application, add a new LOR, send it back to (perhaps the bottom of pile) to reevaluated, then send it back (perhaps the bottom of pile) to be reviewed.
3) Some schools will simply not reevaluate and the letter may not get read,

Ok thanks! It seems like this could really help my app then. Should I simply submit it from AMCAS without telling them directly or should I also call/email them to let them know?

Wait just to make sure, this is a good thing right? I wont get sent back to the bottom of the pile if I was at the middle for example?

You very well may.

1) either the school's evaluation process will not open up your file again, which means this letter will most likely not be read
Or
2) your application file will be removed from completed and review, letter added, sent (possibly bottom of pile) for evaluation, then sent again ( possibly bottom of pile) for review. If this letter is read, you may very well be indeed sent to the bottom of the pile.

Another question, (sorry for hijacking this thread): My school submitted an updated letter packet at the end of August. I looked at the portals of the schools I applied to, and only some of them show they received the updated letter packet. The other schools show they received only the earlier version of the packet. Is this just because they didn't update the portal or because they are only going to be looking at the earlier version of the letter packet?

Every schools policy is different. Some schools may not give you a definitive answer.
