Hello!

I plan to submit my AMCAS the first day, but does that mean that all the data is locked in. Can I update my information like a month after I submit it. In mid June I will receive my grades from my quarter and it can raise my grade from a 3.0 to 3.15 and also bring my scigpa to over 3.0. Also I will gain at least 100-200 more hours of hospital volunteering during that time period. Is it possible to continually update your app or is it set once you submit it.

Thanks.

After the initial submission of your application, you may only make changes to the following information:

  • Your ID numbers.
  • Your name, including full legal name, preferred name, and alternate names.
  • Your contact Information, including your permanent address, preferred mailing address, and e-mail address.
  • Your alternate contact information.
  • Your date of birth and sex.
  • Letters of evaluation (although please note that you can only make additions of up to 10 letters, and you must notify AMCAS if you have a letter you wish to no longer be sent to medical schools; you cannot delete letters of evaluation from your application).
  • Your next MCAT testing date.
  • The addition of medical schools and the altering of existing program types (deadlines, restrictions and an additional fee may apply).
  • The release of your application information to your pre-health advisor.

So i am guessing that I won't be able to, then would you recommend that I wait until I receive the grades before I submit my application. Thanks

You can't update after you submit. I had a pretty bad typo in my application. Unfortunately, I had to send a separate letter to each school I applied to with a correction.

I think in your case it would help to wait, because a 0.15 increase in GPA is probably more useful than applying a few weeks early. Good luck with the application process!

when would you get all of your info? if it really is mid June, then I would wait.. that's still pretty early in my opinion. Just make sure you have a transcript request in to get your transcript sent as soon as your grades are available!

I will get all my info around June 15th. I guess I will wait then, especially if I can't update my grades afterwards. Thanks a lot!
