Re: Question about J-1 Visa

Hi,

I understand we need to get this 'Statement of Need' letter in order to apply for the J-1 Visa with the ECFMG.

I read the requirements to get the 'Statement of Need' letter from Health Canada here:

http://www.hc-sc.gc.ca/hppb/healthcare/pubs/requirements2004/index.html

Now I have three questions with reagrd to Categoty B, criteria 6. (i)

(1) If I make the request for endorsement from ontario, and I don't get the request approved, does that mean that my application for the statement of need will not be approved?

(2) Now if I list more than one province (say ontario, manitoba and saskatchewan), do I have to get endorsement from all three provinces or just one of the three?

(3) Third, am I obligated to return only to the province I get endorsment from?

which province(s) do you suggest I request endorsement from for family practice? thanks

Get the letter from the province you want to work at.

Many provinces ask for a return of service agreement for 2 years or so.

You are kicked out of the US and must go back to Canada for 2 years anyways, as part of J1, so pick the province you want to go to.
