Hey guys:

I have a dilemma. I am currently a Canadian citizen. I hope to get into a Canadian Dental school because it is much cheaper, however if I do not get in here I would like to give it a shot in the states. The problem is I heard that if you write the American DAT you can only apply to American schools. Conversely, if you write the Canadian DAT you can apply to both Canadian and American dental schools. The thing that sucks is that while the American DAT is offered year-round, the Canadian DAT is only offered in November and February. During that time, in University students usually have midterm exams. Has anyone ever been in this situation? Or does anyone have advice on doing well on the DAT exam after studying all summer without sacrificing midterm grades? Also is there any condition under which I can write the American DAT and have it count for Canadian dental schools?

I look forward to hearing your tips/reponses! Thanks 🙂

I've been in that situation. I imagine that 95% of Canadian predents have as well. I've taken the DAT in November and February. I know it can be stressful, but if you can keep focused it is definitely possible to get some great scores!

Btw, I believe you can apply to UBC with an American DAT and, if you get accepted you have to take the Canadian DAT and get a certain score. I'm not sure about this, but might be worth looking into!
