Which one's easier? Well, I took Canadian DAT and scored AA:19, TS:20.
I am planning to take American DAT and hoping to get 23 this time. Did anyone take both Canadian DAT and American DAT? Which one was easier for you? and in what aspect?

american dat is way easier, except for RC (IMO)

for canadian dAT, i like the RC being "on paper", you can write notes/highlight directly on the article, and u can scan thru all the questions at once, where american DAT lets u only see one question at once and if u want to go to the last question u need to click "next" about 15 times per article
although u get 10 more min on american dat's RC section, for me more time had been wasted on just "clicking next/previous"

i also like PAT on paper more too, but not a huge differene...

however, for the science part i think american dat is definetly easier, even with the extra organic chem. Much easier to get higher score.

and, for american dat u can use QR to pull up AA, but for canadian dat, carving is not used to calculate AA

If you don't mind, can you tell me what your Candian and American DAT scores were like? and what materials u used to study?

Thanks a lot

does anyone actually study for the Canadian DAT? It sucks how they fall on the two weekends of the busiest weeks of the year (if you go to school). I'm thinking about writing the American DAT as well and was curious as to the difference in level of difficulty.

Yeah. It's true that Canadian DAT only offers in Feb and in Nov when we all busy studying midterms and upcoming finals.

I totally agree that the Canadian DAT is brutal because it's always during midterms. When I wrote it, I had 5 exams over 4 days plus the DAT to worry about. It was rough, to say the least.

I'm also interested about what people have to say about the difference between the Canadian and American DAT. I'm writing the American one in August and I'm kind of worried about QR as well as Orgo because I took it two years ago.

Same here! I'm writing the American one in August but I don't know if I should take Kaplan again only for QR and Orgo. hmm....

rewina - seems like your in the same boat as me.

I'm not taking Kaplan again, pretty much because I can't afford it. I'm just going to study from the Kaplan books I have and old course materials, as well as sample DAT's. Hopefully it'll work.

I'm a little worried about RC too because it's on the computer and you can't highlight/flip back as easily as on paper.

Hopefully the whole thing is easier than the Canadian one because I'm hoping to do well :luck:.

where are you guys from? Maybe we could form a little study group? send me a pm

I found the Canadian DAT to be much easier. If you are not very sure your score will improve much, I would reconsider taking the American DAT. Your scores look fine to me.

there's a 2.5 year gap between the dates when i took canadian and american DATs, so i basically re-studied everything when i was taking the american dat.

i took canadian DAT first, AA 17 PAT 20 CARVING 28
i didn't have any school after that, been working full time in an unrelated field.
then decided to apply again and took the american dat (i chose it because of the exam date flexibility, i was working full time and it was hard to pace the studyings to match the canadian dat schedule)
AA 21 TS 20 PAT 20
although it is much higher, at the time of the test i felt the level of difficulty was just about the same as the canadian dat. I was expecting to see similar scores after I finished the exam (before the score showed up).

do you have the actual DAT exams or just the Kaplan stuff? let me know thanks

Hello,

I have a question. Can American take the Canadian DAT? If yes, is there a center to take the Canadian DAT in the US? Thanks.

Do you guys know how long you have to wait to write the American DAT after writing the Canadian DAT? I'm writing mine in about a week and was thinking of taking the American about 3 weeks after the Canadian to take advantage of the fact that all the science info is fresh in my mind. I'm not sure if you can do this tho, and haven't found any info regarding this.

Comparing the Can and the Am DAT in terms of AA is like comparing bananas and pineapples.

you can write it whenever you want, like the day after even

doc toothache, I have always liked reading your posts. Would you mind elaborating on this some more?

I know the two have different sections, and different science content, but what's the difference in AA you are speaking of?

He's saying there is no substantial difference.

Come on people.... Both fruits are yellow, grow in hot climates, have outer-covering, don't need to be washed...
