Hey guys! Congrats to everyone who has already received an interview.

Im canadian and we only have the opportunity to write the DAT nov 7 and in feb...if i apply now and write my DAT in nov will my AADSAS application not be considered until AFTER november?

If you plan on applying to American schools ONLY, then I highly suggest you write the US DAT. You can write it on almost any day of the year and you'll find out your unofficial scores right away. On top of that, you don't have to practice carving but you will need to study for quantitative reasoning and organic chem.

I am not 100% sure but from reading this forum and other information, that will be the case. School will not start review until they receive your DAT. Also, Canadian DAT score is available at the end of January. Reviewing at the end of January means you will be considered for rolling admission and even worse is that that time might be past deadline for some school. So you should check the schools...

Hey i am Canadian too
Last year, I wrote November DAT and Applied to school
It took CDAT about 2 months to get the score out
It was jan when it reaches US school
and yeah, i got rejected by all schools I applied
I suggest you write US DAt
I got 20/20 of CDAT, and 22/22/21 on US DAT
US dat is a bit easier to get higher marks, and many schools prefer US DAT over CDA
Hope this helps

im canadian also... with my 2nd attempt on the CDAT i received 19/19/20.

I dont know if any of you know the answer to this question: since i have written the CDAT twice already, do i have only 1 more shot at CDAT and still 3 shots at the US DAT or do i have only 1 shot period (whether it be canadian or US DAT)?

Also, hsia2, in what ways do u feel the US DAT is easier b/c i mean there are 2 whole extra sections to study for???

You can write the CDAT unlimited number of times, and you still have 3 shots lefts for the US DAT. Here, I copied this from the CDA's website for you:

"How many times can I write the DAT?
Applicants are allowed to participate in the DAT Program an unlimited number of times. However, only the results of the last attempt and the total number of attempts will be reported on the official DAT transcript. Applicants who want the results of a previous DAT sent to one or more faculties of dentistry must make such a request online."

Personally, I found the PAT and RC sections on the US DAT harder, mainly because it's written on the computer and not on paper. However, I did score higher in the PAT on the US DAT. Other than that, I thought they were relatively the same. I found OChem hard and QR easy.

US DAT is easier because they questions are straight foward
Here is my score
CDAT US DAT
Biol 19 23
Chem 21 22
Organic 23
RC 20 20
PAT 18 21
Carving 22

You just study those 2 extra sections on US DAT, and you can get pretty decent marks
The CDAT questions are tricky. Some of them don't have definite answer
This is the question I encountered on CDAT

Which of the following is best for boiling solutions?
A. Beaker
B. Goggle
C. Flask
D. Burret

They will they have questions like this on US DAT
By the way
A score of Chem 21 on CDAT= 97% 22 on US DAT=88%
You get my point
