Hey Supastar. I've broken my SDN fast because I see you posting everywhere, with no responses. You are looking for a DAT tutor. I assume that you're willing to spend money? Because you won't find a regular tutor that will do it free considering the amount of material you need to cover.

Seriously look into Kaplan. There's one on the northwest corner of Avenue and Bloor, right across from the ROM. I think a course there costs like $800, and the sessions begin in late May/June and go up until late August. This is good timing for the November DAT. Also, if you don't want to take a full course, Kaplan does offer tutor sessions, but I think they run like $40 an hour. Princeton Review might also have a DAT program. I think there's one on Bay st. just north of bloor. Kaplan also has programs that run out of York University, and Toronto's Erindale campus in Mississauga I think.

But if you really need the one-on-one tutoring, I would contact the University of Toronto's pre-dental club. I saw their website once. You might get someone who'll tutor you there. Also, you might think about posting up an ad in UToronto's dental school w your number on it.

I really don't think you'll find much help in this area on SDN. I don't know about your situation, maybe you struggle a lot with chemistry or something. But if you haven't already, just dive into it, and do a bunch of practice questions. Then, if you have sig. problems, get a tutor. Good luck. :luck:

If you're having specific problems understanding concepts, then that's a good reason to get a tutor. But if you want a tutor to walk you through everything - you're gonna have problems.

I agree - the Kaplan classes themselves are a bit of a waste of time. Everyone goes at different speeds, and I felt that I could've run through the material presented in a quarter of the time. But the classes are useful in the sense that the instructor has taken the DAT, and he/she can introduce you to what the test is like, and what the questions are like.

But ultimately, you have to put in the work yourself. Kaplan's value comes in the huge number of booklets of past questions they have. I spent hours and hours going over those questions and reviewing the detailed answers if I got a question wrong. Also, especially if you're taking the American DAT, they have like 4 or 5 full length computer exams that you can take in their computer labs. These exams are golden.

So, I guess what I'd like to know is: what do you want this tutor to do for you? If you explained you might get a better response.
