Hi All,

New to these forums. A little bit about me: 4th year undergrad in Canada studying nursing. Looking to apply to lower-tier USMD (and maybe USDO) schools this coming summer.

cGPA should be ~3.8ish by the end of this year.
sGPA - 3.90 (I have only taken Gen Chem 1+2 and Bio 1 thus far - going back to school for a fifth year to complete more prereqs - I understand that most schools are OK with you applying if you don't have the prereqs at the time of application so long as you complete them before matriculation but I wonder if I am an extreme case that will be looked down upon?)

MCAT 1st attempt - 124/127/118/118 (Only planned on applying to McMaster this year (A Canadian Med School that only looks at CARS) - thought it would be smart to do the first section as a warm up...does this significantly hinder my chances at US schools?)

MCAT 2nd attempt - 127/125/126/128 (506) - would this be too low for USMD low-tier? What about USDO?

**I plan on rewriting the MCAT this summer too, but also want to submit my application as early as possible. However I am a little unsure about how this works. Here are my 3 main questions:

1. I understand there is a section on the app where you say you will be retaking the MCAT however if I submit in early June with my first 2 MCAT scores could I potentially receive invites based on them? Or will they automatically put my application on hold and wait for the new score?

2. Say I was invited to interview based on my first 2 MCAT scores after submitting in early June. However, because of a rewrite in early/mid August (say 512+) I was offered admission which I wouldn't have been offered if I only had my first 2 MCAT scores. Is this a possible scenario?

3. Would schools who do not find the scores from my first 2 MCAT attempts to be acceptable still put my app on hold and wait until my rewrite score comes back before rejecting me/inviting me to interview? Or would they just flat out reject me?

My LizzyM score using my 506 + 3.8 cGPA is a 67.

ECs (I know that I am very weak in this area)

- Choir leader x6 years (>200 hrs)
- Hospital volunteer x4 years (>170 hrs)
- A few tutoring positions x1 year (one of the tutoring positions was for a club I started)
- One executive position in a club x1 year
- Advanced level in Piano x15 years (won a few awards)
- Advanced level in Guitar x11 years (self-taught)
- Music group leader for a youth group x4 years
- Track and Field x1 year

Clinical experience

- >1100 hrs in direct patient contact as a student nurse

Unsure if this is relevant, but at this point in time I'm quite certain I would like to match into and practice Family Medicine.

I plan on researching + reading up more on US Admissions but any opinion on my situation or advice in general would be very much appreciated. Thank you!!
