If you did your undergraduate degree at a Canadian university, did you need to get the courses on your Canadian transcript evaluated by a private organization to see what was its American equivalent, both course wise and credit wise, or did you just submit your Canadian transcript AADSAS and nothing further was required? Did any American dental schools require that your Canadian transcript be evaluated by a private organization? Thanks.

Just submit it, usually that requirement is for foreign schools (as in not from Canada or the States) or transcripts in another language.

yeah just submit
I grauduated from canadian university..

I am wondering the same thing. I posed this question to my advisor at the University of Calgary and she told me that whatever (American) dental school I would be applying to would give me direction on this topic. I called UoP (my first choice) and the advisor there told me that my courses would need to be translated into the American grading system.

I am so confused. I don't want to be wasting my time taking courses that will not be accepted as pre-requisites. Is there anyone out there that acquired their pre-requisites in Canada and is now attending an American dental school that can help?

You called UoP dental or undergrad? Because I just sent my grades directly to AADSAS and it was no problem at all. They regularly take ppl from Canada so I don't know why your transcript would be any different.

Regarding the $75 application fee to U of P dental, can I send that to U of P at the same time I submit my AADSAS application or should I wait until AADSAS forwards my application to U of P? This will be my first time applying. I assume that AADSAS will show when my application has been forwarded to the dental school? Thanks.

I called UoP dental, but the lady that I talked to did not seem very sure of any of her answers...possibly new or something? It does not make too much sense to need courses translated from Candadian to the American system, especially if they were acquired at a Univeristy and not CC.

I was also asking her if any of my hygiene education (been an RDH for 5 years) would benefit me at all in the admission process and again she told me that it would need to be translated. It sounds like all that is unecessary. Thanks for you help....any other hints on applying to American dental schools would be greatly appreciated. I am trying to learn as much as I possibly can!

Every school is different as to when they want the app fee, some are when contacted and some are right away. You'll have to check that, it's on AADSAS in the big list of all the schools and their contact numbers. I don't know what she was referring to with the 'translating'. My biggest advice is to apply EARLY. Request your transcripts as soon as you can, write the DAT before you apply (if you're writing the cDAT then you already did). There is really no excuse to apply late if you have your DAT done, write your PS and ask for those letters soon so that the profs have tons of time to write them and submit them right when AADSAS is open.
