HI there just a quick question for any one (probably going to be a Canadian student) who has written both the AM and CAN DATs.

I wanted to get a general idea of which was thought to be harder, iv'e heard mixed things. The Canadian has no Org Chem (isn't that awesome??) but has a carving section. Can any one tell me if they found a big difference in the difficulty, as well as any other information about the differences.

thanks!

I'd say it's harder to prepare for the American DAT, considering it's online, having to study orgo and QR; however, every one of my friends who took both (6 of them) did significantly better on the American. They still did well on the Canadian, but not nearly as well as on the American.

You won't see many obscenely high 20s on the Canadian DAT, like you will on the American. It's not uncommon to see lower adjusted scores on the Canadian (ie. 19 = 90th %ile on Canadian, vs. 21=90th %ile on the American).

There aren't as many people in Canada who take the DAT, so you don't have as many outliers (ie. people who do poorly). It's hard to really "out-do" people on the Canadian, that's why some years we didnt have any sections 27+...and there were only like 10 people who got 25/26 on the sciences.
