Awesome, a fellow Albertan 🙂

All Australian schools are accredited now in Canada. Did you apply to any of them? Sydney, Melbourne, etc?

No sir I did not. I just find US a better option as change in lifestyle will not be as significantly different as if I were to go to Australia. At least that is my mindset this cycle. Who knows what will happen if I do not get in this year...

Province: Ontario
OGPA: 4.0

How did you guys calculate your GAP scores? Did you submit your application already? I am debating which schools to apply to. My GPA (calculated the canadian way) is 3.76.

My DAT is the concern.

Canadian DAT:
RC 16
TS 23
AA 21
PAT 22

Yes, I submitted already. I listed my GPA calculated by AADSAS, not the calculation by OMSAS here in Canada.

Your DAT looks great except the RC. I guess just apply to the schools without the RC17 cutoff. I'm pretty sure there's a thread recently posted regarding this.

I'm not sure about the exact GPA calculation method they use but basically its 4.3 for A+, 4 for A, 3.7 for A- , 3.3 for B + and so on. They also calculate a without +/- GPA which makes any A as 4 and any B as 3. Your stats are pretty good but that RC score will make most adcoms think twice

Can anyone comment on the difference between their OMSAS gpa and their AADSAS gpa? As in, is it likely to increase or decrease? (I go to uWaterloo and we do not have any letter grades on our transcript or even posted on a uWaterloo website, so I'm confused as to what my gpa would be.)

hmm... I thought the change in lifestyle was one of the reasons why most would want to move to Australia! 😀

True that, but I love my North American sports way too much lol

It depends on your school, what grading system they use. For me (Western), when you look at the back of transcript, it shows you that 90+ is A+, 80-90 is A, 70-80 is B, so on. It varies by every school. So chance is that It can decrease OR increase. In my case, my GPA went up.

I've tied it in to my working for a year at an HIV clinic and outreach center

Its not just that. Why are sports so popular and addictive? Because we can discuss it amongst friends and family and even strangers. I doubt others will be following NA sports in Australia

What do you guys think is the best way to answer "why not Canadian schools?" during interviews?

I'm just gonna be honest to them and say because gpa stats and carving was poop (3.6-3.7) and its not poop for US

Fellow Albertan here!

Went to U Oregon for undergrad though.

OGPA: 3.52
SGPA: 3.48

I'm sick and tired of eating poutine; there's no variety, Eh.

There's your answer.😉

👍

And that you prefer the warm weather and beaches in Australia!

Have any of you heard from Case, NYU, U Penn, or Detroit Mercy yet?
