Just wondering how many of you are Canadians studying pharmacy in the US?

There aren't too many Canadians on here, which bugged me when the other thread about looking for a Canadian-focused forum was locked, since this whole forum is supposed to be about education.

Anyways, I'm a Canadian that studied in Canada, but I've seen plenty of licensed people in recent years that went to Wayne State or ACP, I think they have programs/requirements that are more Canadian-minded. Some others I've also seen went to MCPHS and University of Buffalo.

One big problem I think is that the US university system has a largely multidisciplinary first year, while in Canada you go straight into the faculty or even precise program of your choice, in the first year. The breadth requirements here are fairly simple, and I think this could make it difficult for Canadians to enter the 4 year PharmD program from a Canadian university without having to take gobs of otherwise unnecessary courses.

Studying pharmacy in the states for Canadians is a waste of time if you expect to come back to Canada. You'll spend a good 120k+ in tuition as an out of state student only to come back to make 70-80k a year.

Also as far as I know the only people who study in the states are people who couldn't get into a school in Canada.

I was just talking to a Canadian MD. She didn't even know that the US system was a Pharm D. program. It makes no sense financially to even go into pharmacy in Canada unless you open up your own business.

70k vs 120k starting which one would you take?
Bachelor's of Pharmacy vs Pharm D?

I'm from Canada and studying in the states, although I'm a Colorado resident, and i'm going to school out of state, so i'll have to deal with amped up tuition, but its only an extra 5k a year thanks to a scholarship.

Well, at least the tuition is quite low (as low as 8k/yr) so you don't rack up crazy loans.

Try 15k a year in Ontario.
