Canceling and rescheduling my step 1 exam. PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Hello,

Sorry if this post is in the wrong section but I am desperate and need help.

Today is 5/19 and I take my step 1 exam on 5/30th. I have already extended my eligibility once and Now I still think I should postpone my exam and take it later. I want to postpone it by a week so that I will have just enough time to be ready for it.


I dont care about the money, My only concern is the rules for reapplying? are there any. WIll i be able to make in time. Is there such a rule that you have a wait a peroid to reapply or can you do so immediately. Do I have to fill out all the paperwork, with my photo and the school stamp like I had to do the first time.

Please help, if you have any information available let me know.

If I understand your question correctly... you are asking if you can reapply as your eligibility period will lapse and you still are not prepared. This happened to me as well. There is no restriction as such on reapplying although I suppose you may have to call them about reapplying prior to having your current eligibility period lapsed. However, I would like to remind you that if you apply now, it will take time to get your token to select a date. This is a very busy time for USMLE step 1 takers and as such it takes 3 weeks for them to process applications and another week to issue the token and only then can you select a date. I am just letting you know because, just like you, I wanted to only postpone a week or two and ended up waiting almost a month for my application to be approved and then another week for the token by which time all the dates were selected already and I now have to drive 50 miles to the nearest available testing location to take my test... regardless if you are not prepared then so be it but be prepared to wait an extended amount of time for the token.

Thank you for the response. I wanted to know, Did your school allow you to postpone your step 1 exam? Does your school have any kind of a date by which you have to take it by?
