Hello! I am moving to a new state to work but would like to notify Ohio that I am no longer practicing in the state and would like to discontinue my veterinary licensure at this time so not to be in bad standing/continuing to pay to keep up my license. I cannot seem to find information on the Ohio licensure website. Does anyone have information/advice? Thanks!

I just let mine lapse (didn't renew). After a certain amount of years, a lapsed license becomes void. Only downside is that if you moved back to the state after it was voided, you'd have to start the licensing process over again.

If you want it outright cancelled right away, reach out to the board and see what the options are. Some states make you pay a fee to cancel a license (FL is one, it's dumb), others will just tell you to let it lapse.

If at some point I do move back, does it look bad/make it more difficult to re-apply for my license? ie are there negatives to just letting it lapse? Never know what the future may hold if I at some point move back *shrug*

No, as long as you don't have any board actions (in any state) they probably don't care. There are no real negatives (for Ohio) that I'm aware of. Some states do slap a 'delinquent' label on your license if you let it lapse so for the future just continue to check what you're supposed to do in other states.

I'd just email the board, I've found them very responsive and helpful for my licensure needs.
