Voluntary certification in pediatric hematology-oncology can only be granted after applicants have successfully passed the board examinations, among other requirements. Pediatrics board exams are designed to assess and evaluate knowledge and skills in different aspects of clinical practice. While preparing for the boards, health care providers can make use of pediatrics board reviews to help them focus on the more important subjects to remember, and to help them get familiar with the testing process. Below are the important dates that pertain to the next pediatrics board exams for initial certification in pediatric hematology-oncology:

August 1 – October 1, 2012 – New applicant registration period for the 2013 pediatrics board examination for initial certification in pediatric hematology-oncology
October 2 – October 31, 2012 – New applicant late registration period
September 13 – November 15, 2012 – Re-registrant application period
November 16 – December 17, 2012- Re-registrant late application period

This CME activity was planned and produced in accordance with the ACCME Essential Areas, Elements and Policies.

The Learning Process

Physician learners are expected to view/listen to all modules, reflect on their content, complete the CME self-assessment and CME evaluation, and return them to the address indicated for scoring. A $30 processing fee must accompany the completed self-assessment and evaluation. Only upon receipt of your self-assessment, evaluation and payment will your CME certificate and correct answers to the self-assessment be mailed to you.

The estimated time a learner will need to complete this self-study activity is 38 hours. Method of Physician Participation: Review recordings of conference sessions and apply knowledge to post-test. Evaluation Methods: Participants must pass (70% correct) an examination to test knowledge and competencies gained from participating in the program.
