Can someone outline the difference between protooncogenes, oncogenes, and tumor suppressors genes? Is there any more vocab or other information about cancer that we should know for the exam?

Proto-oncogenes are normal genes involved in cell cycle regulation. If mutated, they can become oncogenes which contribute to unregulated cell division.

Tumor suppressor genes code for tumor suppressor proteins.

Over-expression of something in a cancerous outcome hints at an oncogene. Over-expression of something to inhibit cancer hints at a tumor suppressor.
