I have to say I am not sure why in Radiation Oncology they interview so many people for one slot but for the record I think ther is some value to knowing how many people are competing for a slot. I thought we could start such a thread so this is what I know and chime in as appropriate.

This is a good idea for a thread. I think part of the reason is b/c the actual pool of applicants getting invited to interviewers is "small" and the same pple are getting interviews at similar places, so programs are just trying to cover themselves. A ratio of 1:10 is a good as it will ever get, save for a few programs such as MDACC (something like 1:6).

i think you should state where youre getting these numbers; remember you dont know that the same number will be interviewed each day the site is holding interviews. if you have facts, document them.
