No magic formula here. Whatever made you a successful intern, keep working on it to be a successful PM&R resident.

1 Show up on time.
2 Be prepared.
3 Be efficient, but don’t cut corners.
4 Don’t shirk your responsibilities.
5 Play nice with everyone.
6 Learn your anatomy.
7 Don’t forget your medicine.
8 Read.
9 Read.
10 Read.

I DO!!! I have been counting down the days. I really cant wait!! I have been reading up the PM&R Pocketpedia every chance I get.

Remember human function. Whether you're doing inpatient rehab or sports you are improving function. Don't lose sight of that.

The best advice I can give is.. enjoy the ride. Residency is actually fun.

With attending status comes worries about salary, position, politics, liability, and taking your work home with you. its not bad being an attending but its definitely not easier than being a resident. it will be over before you know it!

My advice:
1) Read as you go. Don't try reading everything right away. It'll be a waste of time, b/c unless you're using the material, you'll forget it.

2) Get step 3 out of the way (if u haven't already). Then you can commit 100% to Physiatry.

Totally agree, can't wait to start. I'm lucky to be finishing with an elective in PM&R with an attending who pimps on rounds between every patient oral boards style. Looking forward to PGY-2/R1! Please keep the tips coming.

Enjoy your PM&R residencies. I'm really sad mine is almost over.
