I'm not sure about internships but the approved residency list is here

From poking around on the ACVIM website, they seem to imply that all of the approved residencies are through the match, but you can of course look through the list above and see if there are any not listed on VIRMP. I would just google for internships, if you're not finding ones outside of the match that way then I would guess they just don't exist.

CVCA is a direct application outside the match (deadline has already passed for this year though) and sometimes corporate-sponsored positions will also fill outside the match
