  1. Pre-Medical
I am a pre-med student with a BS in Biology. Tried the Med school test two years ago and did not do well, and my first two years of college i had a gpa 2.7, which brought down my cumulative gpa to 3.0 when i graduated. Followed a few advice's here to go for a post bac and get some research experience, take my time and reapply again, seems like i will not be able to make it and it is taking lots of my time/$ to retry again. Also doing a post bac to bring my cum. gpa from a 3.0 to a 3.2 which will still be not competitive for med-school, and no research experience.

Tried to find a research job but was not successful, however i have been working for a medical device company for over 4 years now and have gotten lots of experience in manufacturing and quality Engineering.

Since i have a deep academic knowledge on my science courses from my pre-med courses and i have the engineering experience, i was thinking to go for a masters degree that deals with both fields. For example genetic, tissue engineering or rehabilitation engineering or engineering researcher. I am looking for some advice on this. I know i might have to take a few UG eng. courses that might be pre-reqs of the masters but i am willing to do that.

I think your best shot at this point is to do an SMP and crush it. I know people who had stories not too far off from yours, did the same SMP as myself and wound up thriving in medical school. Just my opinion though.

Best of luck!

Grades from a Master's degree will improve odds at DO schools, but the degree will have little effect on an MD application.
If you would benefit from the degree independent of an MD application, go for it.

I got 2 questions.

What if you do a post-bac but the max you can raise your GPAs are to a 3.3c/3.2s?

My stats will still be very low and I'm not sure I'll be able to get an acceptance even with a decent MCAT of 508+. Some extra info I'm URM (black Canadian permanent resident of GA).

Would attending a biomedical masters program/SMP be a bad move if you're trying to improve your app for MD?

Edited: I haven't taken the MCAT yet. I'm assuming that I can obtain a 508+ score.

You can apply now without an SMP/post bac. You will do great.
You might want to start your own thread as your situation is somewhat different from OP.
