Hello,

I'd like to get some advice from people in the radiology field with regards to the best approach to become a Radiology Technician. I curently hold a Bachelors in Computer Science, however, I have lost passion for computers and have been thinking of making a career change. I have read that there are basically three ways to become a Rad Tech, Associates degree which I don't know if it makes sense since I already hold a BS(just seems like I'd be going backwards) or a certification program which I am having a hard time finding a school that offers certfication programs. Can someone please give me some advice or any information to help me get started. I believe I read that starting in 2015 certification programs will no longer be accepted if you want to be certified by AART. I'd like some comments from people that have made a career change. I currently work full time , is it possible to achieve this or would I have to go to school full time( being realistic about it).Thank you.

Congrats on joining the dark side! You're right with your comment, most of us won't know the best pathway unless we did rad tech before med school. If SDN doesn't have a strong rad tech forum, try googling for other site's rad tech forums. Best of luck finding answers to your questions.

Check out Auntminnie. I think there is an entire forum there dedicated to techs.
