Hey everyone, just wanted some advice and some opinions of my chances of getting into PT school in the near future. For my background, i got my bachelors degree from Texas Tech in M.I.S. When i finished school i had an overall GPA of 2.91, i know not that great, finance and accounting were my enemies lol. Couple months ago i fractured my ankle and now i'm doing Physical Therapy and wow did i fall in love with this profession and i know it's what i want to do. At the moment i'm working as an IT Manager, but i plan on going back and taking all my pre reqs that i'm missing which is pretty much all of them since my degree was a business degree and didn't have to take any of them. I wanted to know what are my chances, to get into PT school if i were to obtain straight A's in my pre reqs and over that time get some volunteer/shadow work with some PT's??

If you get all As in your pre reqs you should have no problem getting in somewhere, especially if you have volunteer / shadowing experiences in a variety of setting.

Similar story. Had a 2.95 GPA when I graduated without having taken any prereqs. Got all A's which brought my cumulative up, volunteered a lot, did decently well on GRE, and I'm starting to get interviews this cycle. It's definitely possible, so go for it!

I agree with the above. If you do very well in your pre-reqs, you'll do well.

It's definitely possible. I came from a similar situation as yours and once I decided to pursue PT, I started an aide job and began taking pre-reqs. Two years later, I've finally applied and so far I've been accepted to 2 schools. I hope to get accepted to more, so I have a wider selection to choose from. If you prove to schools that PT is your true calling, then you will get in somewhere.
