Caring for Pets in Vet School

Anyone know how it works for student pets at vet school? Is there a discount? Are we allowed to do anything ourselves under vet supervision like vaccines, HWT, maintained prescriptions, the like? Do I need to find a private practice vet down by school? How about things that are expensive...say my dog ruptures a cruciate...do I get any breaks for that?
