Their APA match rate isn't very encouraging--last year's was 20%. It did have in the 60th percentile a few years before that, but anything below 80% isn't great.

I have run across a couple of students from that program and I was not impressed. They were definitely from the "stats and research are icky" crowd.

Don't go OP. Don't go there, the forest institute, alliant, or argosy.

I hear it is standard there to apply at least 2 years for internship, with many taking a third year. From what I hear, almost no-one matches on their first attempt. (Can you imagine that being the expectation?!?!)

If you can guarantee that you will be in the top 1% of your cohort, then by all means enroll.

You with your silly expectations of completing a degree in a timely manner. Come on, 2-3 yrs of being unable to work while paying tuition is the fun part.

Everyone loves to gamble. Lets call it a gentlemans wager.😉

Can anyone give me info on this place?
I am a proud graduate of their program. Contrary to what others on this thread are stating, I matched to my #1 choice for internship on my first attempt. A few of my closest peers also matched to their first choices on their first attempt. I recommend CAU's program to anyone.

You were misinformed. That is not an expectation of the graduates. I graduated in 2011 from CAU and I guarantee that my internship was one year, not two.

Bottom line, last reported 10 year match rate was 67%, most recent 5 year was 58.6%. Both are absolutely terrible and moving in the wrong direction. EPPP pass rates reported most currently was 39%, that is downright abysmal. This is one of the programs that the APA hopefully shuts down in the future.

To clarify, I believe the post you quoted was stating that the expectation of students was/is to apply to internship two years in a row, not to attend a two-year internship.

To put that 39% pass rate into perspective....the national average pass rate is 76.4%. They have the 2nd lowest passing rate for any clinical program in the nation, next to Argosy (Dallas).

But students keep recommending the program to others because....apparently they do not understand statistics? If I can do it, so can you. That's a fantastic attitude for a psychologist. Goodness, what a joke...

I lost over 200 pounds on the ice cream diet. If I can do it, so can you.

I recommend CAU too. My friend Miss Cleo told me it was a reputable school.

Correct, I was referring to at least 2 years of applying for internship, so I'd like to know if the person from CAU matched to their top choice their first or second year of applying.

Also, I hear that many people do Literature Reviews and do not conduct research as part of a dissertation. If that is true, that frustrates me.

Yes; this is the case at many FSPS. Lit reviews or treatment guidelines documents.

I can't think of a worse person to write a lit review or treatment guidelines than someone who thinks research is icky.

The skills/competencies needed to complete a literature review are at the very bottom of research-related competencies pyramid. And these schools are using this as the "capstone"/seminal project of doctoral training. What a joke!

But a real lit review would require intimate knowledge of research design and stats to appropriately evaluate the quality of an entire body of work, was my point. Otherwise it's a glorified essay.
