Carnot cycle, how is there more heat?

I really dont "understand" this cycle.
I understand everything that is going on (compression =heat and change in states and vice versa).

How is there more work being done on the system and more heat released?
It seems like an obvious very simple symetrical cycle where
Work in=work out
Heat in = heat out

It seems to be going nowhere...

Heat gets converted to work or vice-versa. There isn't an equal amount of each in/out. For a refrigerator, work goes in and heat goes out. For an engine, heat goes in and work goes out.

This. Maybe where you're getting confused is the conservation of energy, which says that total energy in equals the total energy out. So:

Work in + heat in = work out + heat out
