I got a letter in the mail today from Case saying that I was invited for an Alternante list interview. I am kind of surprised. I mean I applied in July and my application was complete by End of August and I get an Interview for alternante list. Does that mean all the interviews case hands out from now on is for alternate list. Anyway, do you guys know if anyone ever comes of the alternate list at CASE. I mean if nobody ever comes of the alternate list then there is no point in interviewing.

Not answering your question, but...

Who is that DJ in you avatar, Jon Lovitz?

That sucks bad man. I hear it's a great school. Too bad. I'm sure that if they waited a little bit, they could get a much better applicant pool. Does this mean that if someone with a 4.0 GPA and 25s on the DAT applies late, they can only interview for the alternate list?

I know it's just that they are just too quick. I mean in september they ae handing out interviews for the alternate spots. Now that's really Odd. I think now they will only be handing out interviews for alternate list. Does anyone know how CASE operates.

The alternate spots are for the waitlist. After you interview if they like you they will send you a letter saying that you made the waitlist and they will ask for a 1,000 dollar non-refundable deposit to hold your place. Then if people cancel along the way they will pull people off of the waitlist. Last year they didn't pull anyone off of the waitlist.

They hand out their alternate list interviews solely based on volume of applicants that have already been invited to interview...not based on grades. So I would call them and ask them if that is the case and then constantly call back to see if an earlier interview has opened up. People cancel their interviews all of the time so their should be periodic openings that you might be able to snag.

My info could be wrong so I would go straight to the source and talk to either Phil Aftora (director of student services)or David Dalsky (director of admissions). They are both super helpful and very willing to talk to applicants. Let me know if you have other random question about Case. I'm a first year and I'm really enjoying my time here.

yeah i just got a letter today about the alt. list.....it kinda sucks that they filled all their interview spots so quick...i am just betting on the other schools that i applied to bec most have not sent out interviews yet or just began. i mean we could be accepted to a school before we even have an interview at case....oh well thats just the way the cookie crumbles good luck dustt 🙂

Here is the question. non refundable deposit meaning you won't get the $1000 back even though they don't accept you or you don't get it back if you decide to not go there. Just little unclear.

That's alright man. Good luck to you as well.
I was kind of counting on case becasue it is private and nearby for me.now I think I have very little chance at case. I know that Michigan won't accept me becasue I already talked to the admissions guy and he told me that they don;t like the pre-requisites from CC. That means all the schools that have invited me for an interview don't really care much about where I have taken my pre-req.

Does CC = Community College?

Also, does Indiana accept Canadians?

I don't get it, did you just get an interview for the alternate list? Or did you have one booked already (before dec 1st) and they sent you another letter? I'm just a bit 😕

The 1000 dollars is only going to see your pocket again if you get off the waitlist and decide to attend Case. If you do this then you will get the money credited towards your fall tuition. Any other scenario and you are out of luck.

Case operates on a first-come, first-served basis. They prefer applicants that are really early, and by early I mean having everything completed in May or mid-June at the latest. If you are interested in Case I encourage you to go and interview for the alternate list. Just because they have already formulated a primary acceptance list does not mean everyone on that list will take them up on their offer. Hope is certainly not lost - hang in there!

I didn't have any interview before this. I just got an interview for the alternate list that's what they told me. My friend got the same thing and he got his letter on friday about alternate interview and his stats are really good. He has like 3.8gpa and 23DAT. Its's really about timing for CASE as I see it now. I was little last but there is nothing I can do at this moment. For the future applicants, apply the day AADSAS comes out becasue it really affects your chance of getting in at some schools.

Actually, if you remain on the waitlist all summer long and fall comes and classes start and you are STILL not accepted from off the alternate list (like me), then you get your $1000 back. Trust me, I have the check to prove it. Hope this clears up some of the "non-refundable" ambiguity. 😉

I wasn't early and I received an interview invitation from them. It's after Dec 1st but it's not for the alternate list. When they reviewed my file I only had one letter of recommendation from a science professor.
