My predental advisor sent my application materials to Case over a month ago. I wondered why I hadn't heard anything. Today I get a letter in the mail from Case Medical School stating "In error, your application fee for $45.00 wa sent to our Admission Office." They returned the check with the letter, but said nothing of where my letters of rec, etc. are. I called the dental school and the lady I spoke with said that my application materials were probably thrown away and that I would need to resend. She then added that interviews are filling up fast and that I will most likely be placed on the alternate list this late in the game!!

I checked the address that I printed on the mailing label for my predental advisor and it is the dental school's exact address. I don't know what they are doing over there at Case. I'm having my predental advisor resend everything, but I think I might be screwed.

Any advice?

Dude, is your heart set on Case? Because with those stats I don't think you'll have a problem getting into any of the other schools on your list.

Yea, I prefer not to compete with an applicant like you, hehe.... very nice gpa and dat. I would not worried about getting in anywhere.

If i was you I would go to Meharry. They could really use someone like you to raise their admissions statistics. J/K. Dental school admissions is a tough, don't get left behind business. From my small experience, they don't seem to really care about applicants and their problems. It sucks. But thats the way it is. Like the other posts said, you will have options.

This is utterly irresponsible from Case. We as applicants shouldn't be treated this way.

I'm sure you did, but did your address on the package include "Case School of Dental Medicine"? Just seems a bit odd that the medical school would have thrown you application away if it was addressed to the dental school. If they did it is totally uncalled for.

The exact address printed on the mailing label:

David A. Dalsky
Office of Admissions
Case Western Reserve University
School of Dental Medicine
10900 Euclid Avenue
Cleveland, OH 44106-4905

It does seem odd...that's what I don't understand. 1) The label is clearly addressed to David A. Dalsky (of the dental school). 2) It reads "School of Dental Medicine". 3) The zip codes are even different. 4) Why would the Medical School remove the check from the packet of obvious dental school materials and mail it back to me, while the rest of the packet gets tossed? Wouldn't they consider the possibility that it was supposed to arrive at the Dental School?

Anyone ever see the MTV movie "Orange County"? I often feel like the guy in the movie who tried to get into Stanford, was extremely qualified, but got screwed by administration incompetencies. This whole situation is just one example among several things that have gone wrong in my application process.

At any rate, the dental school did not do anything wrong. Those at fault here are the mailman and the Med School staff.
