What group case-based problems are you guys doing? If you're doing them. We're in the third week of designing a dipeptide ester pro-drug form of acyclovir in solution, using valcyclovir as a model. It's been really cool trying to battle the solubility vs stability issues. At any rate, our final interview to present is this week.

What are other peeps doing? Has it been challenging? I love this problem-based crap. You learn ten times faster when you've got an actual project. I think we're all really fortunate to be moving into school after the paradigm shift to problem based learning has taken place.

For our integrated case studies, we are given "patients" with a specific problem. We have to pretend that they walked into our pharmacy or have been admitted into the hospital. Some info, such as lab panels will be given. We are also told what meds they are taking and what the physician just recommended.

We have to decide what questions to ask the patient, look at their existing drug therapy to see if it is appropriate, look at what was just prescribed and look for problems, make recommendations, etc.
