Hello,

I have a question. I recently got accepted to Case Western's University Program, and when I checked iApply it said that I had been invited to apply for Case Western's merit scholarships. I feel like this invitation is something they extend to all acceptees, but I just wanted to make sure. Does anybody have definite info on this? Do they invite all acceptees? Thanks!

Not all acceptees are invited to apply for the merit scholarships, you have to pass numerical cut-offs to be invited to apply. Best of luck!

Has anyone received the application yet? My invitation just says that it will be out in the winter.

The merit app forms are supposed to come out in February... that might depend on when your interview was.

No, like geek said, they definitely don't invite everyone to apply. Congrats and good luck. 🙂

Any idea what the application consists of? Essays, rec letters, interviews, any of that? (I think they said no interviews, right?) I'm worried my brain is all essay-ed out.

Do you know the numerical cut-offs for the scholarships and do they every waver from those rigid guidelines, for instance with excellent extracurricular achievements?

It's mostly numerical scores, but they will and do make exceptions.

But if you've already been accepted to the school, I believe that you should already have the invitation to apply for the scholarships as the deadline is March 7th.

Yup. The invitation and instructions to apply should have been mailed to you and be available on your iApply. Anyone have an idea how many scholarships they have to give out?

Are you sure about the 3/7 date? I just interviewed yesterday and I certainly hope that is not the case. I'd like the chance to even apply for the scholarships if I am accepted.

That's what it says on my invitation. If you're so inclined, maybe you can start writing the essay now, and then just send it out immediately if you get an acceptance and an invitation. If you want me to PM you the prompt, lemme know.

what's the essay question or application requesting in case I want to start writing it ASAP? Thanks.

does anybody know when these scholarships get announced? i think they said early april?

does anybody have any info as to how many people get invited to apply for these scholarships vs. how many actually end up getting one? also, are they 4-year scholarships, or do you have to maintain some ridiculous academic standing in order to keep it?

I think about 70 applied in 2006 (looking at other threads). I do not know how many they usually give out. Hopefully, we will hear back in early april. I think they are 4-year scholarships with basic academic standards you must meet.

I hate to bump an ancient thread, but I have this same question. Any answers? 🙄
