My friend just got of the phone with an adcom from Case and said they said they expect 19's across the board confirming what another blogger on SDN said earlier. Probably just to get him off their backs? I've heard that others have gotten interviews with scores less then 19.

Its not true. My guess is that look at each applicant on an individual bases... When they apply, where they are from, # of apps from the applicants state, DAT scores, I am sure you get the poing.

True they probably like 19 or above across the board, but I am sure they do accept some below 19 or their avg would be different.

I said it at the other post but I'll say it again. They told me they are not giving interviews to anyone with lower than a 19 on the RC section. She said they'll look at my app again when I retake the DAT. When I asked what would happen if I got like a 21 on RC but dropped in all the other categories she told me I was not going to want to score lower than 18 on any section. No kidding! Hope this helps. Its all speculative.

I agree with Lingual View. I was told the exact same thing when I called Case. There must be some reason that those with lower DAT scores are getting interviews. Perhaps the reason for the discrepancy here is that Case might be willing to lower their standards for select minority applicants, but over-all generally hold to their base DAT scorers. Before people attack me...THIS IS PURELY SPECULATION and is not based on any factual evidence.

I have a friend at Case and they told him that any family member that applies to Case will get an interview there just because he is a student. I don't know that this will get you in but it definately gets your foot in the door.

I interviewed there last year. All my scores were 19 or above except for a 17 in one section. And during one interview, the interviewer specifically said that they consider the Reading Comp section to be one of the most important.

I JUST got an interview 9-10-07 at Case Western. My RC was 18, QR was 16, BIO was 17. My stats are in my signature.

What was funny, I just got the letter and it felt heavy. I thought, geeze, they are gonna hold me and give me 50 suggestions to make my application better....But I opened it up, saw that they requested an interview, and danced around the house for 15 min!!! After hearing such sad news that only 19+ get interviews, I almost lost it! Case is my number one choice. I just want to stay in Cleveland forever!!!!! I cannot stop singing, "I've Got the World on a String" by Frank Sinatra.

Maybe I "broke" the rules: I live in Cleveland, 20 miles from the school. Although they are a private institution, perhaps they look good at future Cleveland dentists wanting to stay in Cleveland. Also, my school, Baldwin Wallace, pretty much averages one student to Case Western Dent and Med a year.
