Hey everyone,
First time poster, but I've been browsing the forums since I started the application process. Anyways, I was hoping you all could give me any advice to help me make a decision between going to Case Western or U of Michigan. I need to make a decision by end of this week, so any input would be appreciated. Thanks!
Here's a list of what has been weighing on my mind:
If I were to go to Case, I would be living rent-free since my brother owns a condo down the street near Cleveland clinic. So I assume my living expenses will be quite low.
The tuition at Case is $42,500 for the 2006-2007. At Michigan, tuition as a non-resident is $37,572. I'm assuming my living expenses at Michigan will be more than the difference in money between Case and Michigan.
I'm from the Cleveland area, so I am somewhat familiar with downtown Cleveland. Honestly, I've never been a big fan of the city of Cleveland. When I visited Michigan, I loved the campus. I definitely would enjoy the campus setting over a city location.
Stating the obvious here, Michigan's class size is bigger and the school in general is larger. So culturally/socially speaking, I would expect to meet a more diverse group of people. I know it's important that the rare times that I do have free time, I have a good group to hang out with.
However, I know choosing dental school should be more about the education and not the location. I'm currently thinking of specializing. Which school do you think would prepare me better? With dental schools not being ranked, it's so hard to compare the academic levels of each school.
