I'd say worry about it after you get accepted and if you have more than one choice on where to go 🙂

I haven't been there, but I've heard the school area is safe.

My brother goes to CWU for undergrad, and I've driven him to school a few times. Cleveland itself would be something to fear, I would not suggest walking downtown by yourself, however, it's not like a shooting every night like in the neighborhood I grew up in. With that said, like most school campuses located in lower-class towns, the campus itself is pretty nice and safe, and I wouldn't be concerned about my safety.

haha It's not too bad

I've been spoiled by Canada. And Toronto, for that matter.

The scariest people around here are the evangelical freaks who preach tiredly through megaphones at Dundas Square. There's also a schizophrenic guy who stands on the northwest corner of Yonge & Dundas, holds out a bible and shouts "BELIEVE IN THE LORD" when unsuspecting shoppers walk close to him.

Besides that, there's pretty much nothing to fear in Canada. It's a bit eerie how safe it is here, when you think about it.

Pretty much every dental school is going to be near an area of town that isn't the best. Not every school can be Nova with a golf course. Keep in mind that the location is responsible for providing the patients you will need to come in and see you. Look at the school and if they can give you a good education or not.

Im just asking a question. People do have concerns about their safety. I was just getting peoples opinions about it. Obviously if i get into Case and not anywhere else im def going there, High crime rate or not.

im sure its fine. its like all other city areas. dont go out at 3am on the worst block. im sure during broad daylight its fine especially in the really busy areas. thats all. people often dramatize a situation.

That, and Midwestern in Downers Grove.

Haha yeah. I bleed red, white, and blue but Canada is pretty cool.

(I wouldn't have thought that before I went there)

I personally think those guys who have to go to Detroit have it worse.

I love Canada, and head up there every chance I get 👍

On a side note, I think its funny that it is well known that Case accepts anywhere from 70-90% of those interviewed, but on predents they accept anywhere from 40-47%... just shows how unrepresentative the predents site is of all applicants haha

Have you guys thought about applying to Canadian dental schools? There aren't many and the spots are few, but you'd get to live here! 😛

As for the Pre-Dents stats for Case, it might be because people just stop updating their Pre-Dents once they're accepted. Also since the sheer number of acceptances includes waitlist offers, there are probably a lot of offers that are given rather late in the summer and those just don't get updated.

case was actually really nice when i went there. a couple friends and i walked around the area and it felt pretty safe/had some pretty nice shops/eateries within walking distance. Obviously, it gets dangerous at night but with a little caution and some common sense, case seems like a pretty cool area.
